NICU Awareness Day 2022 Proclamation

I am proud to announce, September 30th, 2022, is officially #NICUawarenessday in the beautiful City of Daphne, Alabama - "The Jubilee City"!! A huge thank you goes out to Mayor Robin LeJeune, Executive Assistant Kit Robinson, and Assistant City Clerk Jessica Linne for their assistance with this proclamation!

On behalf of all NICU families and www.nicuawareness.org, we are so grateful for the kindness you have shown us as we execute our mission bringing awareness to the challenges NICU families face.

About Us

The Skylar Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by a former NICU and bereaved mother, Est. July 2021, created to honor our heavenly daughter, Skylar. Skylar and our family spent much of the 18 months of her life in the NICU. Through our experience and healing we were able to identify the needs not answered for many NICU and bereaved families. Our Mission is to provide resources for NICU and bereaved families, offering financial assistance, care packages, mental health advocacy and support. Our aim is to assist families who have to walk a path, unfortunately very familiar to our family. There are so many emotions that arise and many challenges faced each day, especially if your baby is critical or has a poor prognosis. Guilt, depression, anxiety, and PTSD are only a few of the mental scars that end up leaving their imprint on the soul. This is where The Skylar Project steps in, we are a grassroots organization with those we serve spending countless days in the NICU. Every dollar raised goes directly into the hands of NICU/bereaved families in our local area. The Skylar Project provides both financial and literal support, as well as serves as a liaison connecting families to other existing resources. The trauma of a child loss or a NICU stay can be overcome with time and support. It is our hope that through sharing our story and experiences and with the provision of appropriate resources that The Skylar Project can offer to others the help we so desperately needed during our darkest chapter.
