We Honor You, Skylar

We Honor You, Skylar

We honor you Skylar (1.6.12--7.12.13), and your pure, brilliant spirit. We reflect upon your loving soul-untouched by worldly challenges and negativity, still intact with unconditional love.

We honor the extraordinary, life -changing 18 months we were gifted with your angelic presence. You were different, maybe that is why God needed you back, His Angel, His messenger of unconditional love and light.

Thank you for teaching me how to love selflessly, instinctually, and fiercely with my whole heart. You showed me how to love even when my world was ending, when circumstance stretched my awareness to new dimensions, propelling me into a new world of existence.

You never let your physical limitations or pain dim your light. Every breath was a struggle. Thank you for fighting for us, from lengthy intubations, to surgeries, and painful procedures your steady, loving, upbeat disposition never wavered.

Thank you Skylar, my first born, epitome of fearlessness and perseverance, for presenting my life’s purpose. I will continue to honor you and all Angel-babies who arrived too soon, who were called back to God’s love, where they continue their spiritual journey in the ethereal world.

All my love forever,

Mommy

Skylar's Story

We Honor You, Skylar

My daughter Skylar was born three months premature and spent a challenging 10 of her 18

months in the NICU. During that time, she endured over four months on mechanical

ventilation, multiple surgeries, setbacks, and triumphs.

Skylar came home at ten months, requiring weekly physical, speech, and occupational

therapy, along with care from specialists for her Chronic Lung Disease of Prematurity and

continuous oxygen support. However, after a respiratory virus led to her hospitalization in the

PICU, a series of tragic events unfolded. A doctor inadvertently perforated her bowel while

placing a gastrojejunal tube, and due to a paralytic medication, she could not express her

pain. For two weeks, intestinal fluid leaked into her abdomen, resulting in sepsis. When the

perforation was finally discovered, she underwent emergency surgery but was left with an

open abdomen due to infection.

As her condition worsened, we faced the heartbreaking decision to remove life support after

exhausting all options. Skylar fought valiantly, and we felt it would be selfish to prolong her

suffering. We chose to gift her freedom from pain and the physical limitations of her body.

This experience changed my life forever. I resolved to proactively seek healing through

resources, spiritual leaders, and role models who had faced similar losses. I chose to honor

Skylar’s memory by raising awareness for NICU and bereaved families, ensuring her light

continues to guide my efforts to help others.
